Anderson has arrived!

After 10 long months and one extra week, Anderson has finally arrived!

Anderson Davis Fitzgerald was born at 8:58 am on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Women's Hospital of Texas. He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. Our worries about having an underweight baby quickly dissipated! He is the cutest thing in the world.

Anderson is my mom's maiden name. So we thought it would be the perfect name for our little man. Davis is just a name that Mike and I both loved and thought it sounded great with Anderson. He could easily be his own law firm or CPA practice with a name like Anderson Davis Fitzgerald. We are planning to call him Anderson--not Andy, not Ander, not Son--just Anderson.

Early Saturday morning, I began to have regular contractions. I had a previously scheduled ultrasound at the hospital that morning, so the doctor had me go ahead and come in for monitoring of the contractions. I was told that I was a long way from delivery at that point. So Mike and I decided to head home and wait it out.

Around 2:30 am on March 16th, the real contractions began. Any one who has gone through a delivery sans drugs gets mad props from me. I could not get the drugs fast enough! At 6:00 am labor was induced, and my epidural came at 6:30 am. Mike and I were then told to get some rest for the delivery was about 6-8 hours away. We promptly did as we were told, but were awakened around 8:30 am and told that we were going to start pushing. Twenty-eight minutes later, Anderson had arrived.

Here I am the day before delivery. Anderson was about to bust out.
